Apparatus Smiles

Apparatus Smiles

by ie at Heart

Released as track 3 on the 2012 EP We Will Win

Running time 8'30''

We built this city too big to handle. This apparatus was bred with laboring hands of love. We're stuck residing among its feces, and while the apparatus smiles we feed it with pride.

Our sweats and endeavors have turned us their backs. The image we dreamt up derailed from its tracks. It's charging towards us with headlights too bright, while convincing us that we're not cuffed, blind and gaged.

My arm is coming off.

These walls around us providing shelter keep us surrounded when what we need is an embrace. We built this prison too big to handle, and while the apparatus smiles, we tell its lies.

The city we built grew too big to control. The ladder erected too high leading nowhere. Our dream was too distant to reach in a lifetime, its victims depraved and overwhelmed by the music too loud and the drummer too tight, the news too sensational shining too bright, the paintings too colorful leading the blind round in circles too round while the earth isn't round.

My arm is coming off.

And while the apparatus dies we're brought to life.
